Pussy Willows!  Responding to spring’s Chinook winds here in the Walla Walla Valley, and waving a last goodbye to winter’s snow, Pussy Willows are welcome  indeed.

?????????????Yesterday, my friend, Brenda, placed an armload of the long willow stems in the University church and brought another armload to me.  This morning, when I took mine to the Eastgate SDA church, people laughed out loud and exclaimed, “Maybe spring is coming!”

Take heed to their “maybe”.   It’s been a long, cloudy winter here in the valley, and we’re never sure when another snow storm will hit.  In fact the snow level is way down on the Blue Mountains foothills again today, and I’m rejoicing.  The melting snow in the mountains feeds our aquifers.

Meanwhile, get outdoors and look for the pussy willows in your neighborhood.  And closer to your feet, watch for the first Snow Drop, Snow Crocus and Winter Aconite.  Mine are budding!
