POST OF THE DAY — SNOWING AGAIN ON DECORAH EAGLE NEST

The Decorah eagles faithfully warm their three eggs, regardless of the weather.  They have almost a month to go before the first hatch of 2012.

When Dad eagle takes his turn at nest duty, he is quite alert, constantly peering this way and that, always on guard.  Little birds (English Sparrows?) nest in the lower parts of the Eagles’ platform.  A video was taken of Dad becoming quite incensed with their chatter.  He had a little temper tantrum.

While Dad eagle hunts and keeps watch, Mom is much more relaxed and lethargic on the nest — comfortably drowsy .   God’s way, don’t you think? of providing contentment and job satisfaction for the mother.  Even while half asleep, she often raises her head, apparently listening, but doesn’t always bother to open her eyes.  Do visit the website for more information and pictures (even videos) of last year’s babies.  http://www.ustream.tv/decoraheagles.  And I’ll try later to add a few more webcam shots from this morning.
